The Clarity Fuel Cell runs on pure hydrogen, which reacts in its fuel cell stack with oxygen to produce electricity, and water -- its only emission.

This space-age, eco-friendly model will go on sale in California starting in late 2016. In 2017, Honda has just announced, it will be joined by two new electrified models running on the Clarity platform -- the Clarity Electric, and the Clarity Plug-in Hybrid.

Apologies to those of you who prefer creative naming conventions.

True to their names, the Clarity Electric will be a battery-electric vehicle (Honda has yet to make comment on its estimated range), and the Clarity Plug-in Hybrid will be a plug-in hybrid with an estimated 40-mile electric range, and a gasoline-hybrid extended range for longer trips.

Which is your favorite? Honda is anticipating the plug-in model will earn the widest appeal, thanks to its versatility and exceptional efficiency.
