All the Things to Enjoy at the Utah State Fair

Just because school has started and Labor Day is over doesn’t mean summer has quite passed. The last hurrah of summer is the Utah State Fair and this year will be full of fun activities. Whether you are into concerts, animals, or just some good fair food, you’re sure to find a good time!

The fair is a great time to appreciate all the different animals you can see. The 4-H program offers you the chance to see kids of all ages show their farm animals. You will see them working with various animals including goats, pigs, cows, horses, and more.  If you’re into something a little more extreme, be sure to check out the PRCA Rodeo. You’ll experience everything from barrels and roping to wrestling and Bronc riding.

If you’re seeking a different type of culture, be sure to check out the fine arts, home arts, and photography exhibits. You will also want to keep an eye on the schedule for all of the different learning options. Cooking demonstrations will be presented daily, as well as bobbin lace, embroidery, hand spinning, and tatting demonstrations.

The options to keep the kids entertained will be endless.  Your favorite carnival rides will be open daily beginning at 1:00 p.m. You will also find clowns, magicians, jugglers, and strolling acts as you venture around the grounds. And for some family fun excitement, don’t miss the “Day of ‘Wreckoning’ Demolition Derby” on Saturday, September 16.

We all know the most important part of the state fair is the food! You will have endless options of unique foods to look out for. Are you brave enough to try alligator bites or chocolate covered scorpions? If not, we may also suggest the donut burger or the famous funnel cake.
